The cab 2 should do the reset just fine. FWIW when hitting AUX1 on the old cab 1 the numbers on the cab 1 activate the same features that the cab 2 is displaying when you see icons, so its the "same difference".
I would check the wires that run to the infra red on the loco drawbar. Sometimes they can rub on the trailing wheels under the cab or rub through where they come through the frame opening.
