If these sets have any switches for smoke on off. Or, chuff on off. I would check that the switches are correct from the manual by manual testing. I had a starter set blue comet. The switches were backward from the manual.

We tried all that. This is not the first time around the block for Nicholas Smith, lol. They know all the pitfalls.
