The best way it to trace the wires and see what they're powering it with.  Most of the brass I've taken them out of has a 6V supply that powers some lights and the smoke unit.  If it measures from around 7-9 ohms, it's most likely one of the 6V models.

I'm going from memory but there was a 1.5Vdc regulator for the two Grain of Rice lamps in the markers, a 7806 for the main lamp, and a series pass NPN with a 16V zener to power the smoke unit (just so it would never see more than 16Vdc).  

I'm building more shelves and I think I finally found my RoW box so I can handle some other unanswered questions on the forum.
