The RMT website says "Diecast metal trucks w/operating couplers" and that each car comes with a different road number. It also shows the range of numbers for each car and from that it appears that 300 of each car are being made for many of the road names.

I like the different road numbers (as well as showing the range they will be in). This provides more of an incentive to buy more than one car. I think it is neat to have a series of cars for the same road or company but each with its own unique road number. A tip of the hat to RMT and Pat's Trains for offering this.
