Royal Blue replacement/repair pilot

The thread on Royal Blue restoration got me thinking. Does anyone remember a replacement pilot/cow catcher for the Royal Blue locos that get dropped on the floor? The first one I ever bought back in 1969 had a smashed pilot. It was all a young lad could afford at the time. Years ago there was someone who made pilots that could be epoxied on to the boiler after the original bent/smashed/broken one was cut off. That's my foggy memory, at least.
