No I used regular old white self adhesive labels. I found images like that I used for the Rock Island on the web. It took a few tries to get the size just right for the area they were applied. I made the background color area larger than needed and then shrunk the lettering to the size needed. That way I could trim them to a specific size. The MKT label was just yellow lettering laid over a background green color that looked close enough to the BN green car color I put the MKT stickers on. My ancient "Paint" program still gets it done for me.
The labels I used were laying around in my shop for a long time but were sticky enough to work. I think any office store sells white sticky back labels on a sheet.
Another way to dress up the cars might be to print out the Railroads logo such as:
and then size them to the specific area you want to put them such as maybe on the doors or the flat area at the ends of the sides.
After seeing some of the later issue O gauge cars such as the Milwaukee Road car adding logos looks pretty good!

Great info. Thanks. The current project I am contemplating is a little different (custom lettering for an ACG steamer and tender), so I may start another thread.
