One rainy day with all the ballast tamped on the railroad I sat down and worked these scale speeds out in seconds per mile. The 110 foot to an O scale mile works out to almost exactly 6 laps on O-72 track. I use the chart I am including when I set my top speeds in TMCC. I usually multiple the time for one lap X 6 rather than sit and count laps.
