P48 wheels are not OW5 wheels spaced closer together. P48 wheels are scale miniatures of prototype wheels in cross-section as well as spacing. P48 frogs will not work with narrowed OW5 wheels because the depth for the flange is too shallow for the normal OW5 flanges and can lead to derailment in the frog.
