"scenery black" mixture for painting mountains and rock?

I want to paint a mountain with rock formations containing sculptamold and plaster. Because of different absorption rates which can be seen after drying I want to use a base coat of one color rather than washes. Has anyone used "scenery black"? If so what is the formula and what type of paint is used?
