Reply to "Schematic for Z-750 or Z-1000"

What my plan was to build a replica of the controller in a box and use the lever to control the speed.

I thought about just using a wirewound potentiometer, which would essentially give me the same as an older transformer. I also considered using a rotary switch with resistors which would give me steps, rather than continuous control, like the "real thing". I do have a 24V 4A transformer which could be used  in conjunction with a fast acting circuit breaker.

I have some push button switches similar to those used in real trolleys and subway cars which I had planned to use for Horn and Bell. If I had a reversing handle, I would use it for direction control.

Right now, I have the lever attached to a PWM DC supply I made with several 555 timers that I have used with HO trolleys. I realize that I could use DC to run at least some trolleys I own (Bowers in particular) and could rewire my MTH ones.

On the other hand it would be fun to rum my Yankees Subway with a control lever originally used on a New York Subway Car.
