I just modified my original post and included the service manual pages for the tender. I have read on the OGR Forum more than a few times that the foam that holds the sound board in place will break down over time and will result in the sound board shorting out. This is not unique to the 3100 but will occur in all of the tenders that have the Sound of Steam.
