Wonder if I could make or just buy the atlas control board separately so I could use MTHs or others signals with the atlas board.
You don't have to use atlas boards to connect signals to switches. You can sometimes just directly connect them.
That would be cool and easy to implement.

Usually a signal has three wires coming out of it. Usually black for ground and red and green for thru and diverting. Basically the signal lights, with those wires can hook directly to the switch and function just as the lights on the switch controller do.
