I checked my Lionel postwar f3 book by Joe Algozzini and found a article about economy f3s the author found a ad in November 1950 Model Railroader from Fisher’s hobby service of Louisville, KY. That offered a Santa Fe or NYC f3 with single motor. This may be what you have.

This would be very interesting to piece together! If @kiehlclifford really does have something like this and has provenance and such that it lines up with documentation such as the Model Railroader Ad, it would be great to get this variation recognized in the Greenberg books and similar.

If the locomotive happens to have a heritage like this, one can't expect it that it would make up a consist conforming to any Lionel cataloged set.

I don't happen to have the November 1950 issue of Model Railroader to put eyes on the advertisement.
