Reply to "Smoke Fix for PS3 RTR Engines"

Hi guys.  I am the guy Dave fixed the smoke issue for on the 2-8-0.  Thanks so much to Dave for an excellent job and Marty and Barry and MTH for the fix.  My wife has asthma and the need to turn this off was very important. Of course on my grandson's visits he wanted more smoke ... imagine !!

Right out of the box as purchased from MTH the sound pot worked fine but not the smoke pot. Dave introduced me to this forum and as I scanned I found this thread on the fix.  Dave does not have a DCS Remote Commander, but after he worked his magic in DCC all I had to do is perform the simple factory reboot and voila' all is as it should be.

This is the Christmas tree engine so workability was key.

Since I recently did a little retired consulting I treated myself to an MTH Erie Triplex. My grandfather worked the Erie for 50 years and saw this engine live.  It is a shame MTH did not label it the Matt Shay who was an Erie engineer who they named one after.  This one worked out of the box just fine.

Again  many thanks to all as I thought I would have to disassemble this and unhook the smoke generator.

PS: I have been an N scaler for 30 + years.

Regards
