Not at all, Donald. You added important ideas to the discussion.
It's really hard to explain why 3-rail is "like a burden getting lifted off my shoulders", as you say. But I feel the same way. I guess it's sort of like when there's less pressure, you can be more creative.
There's a "semi-famous" quote from one of my favorite TV shows that says, "I reject your reality and substitute my own." I guess that sums up my approach to realism on my layout sometimes.
