Charlotte Trolley:

When Walt Cameron died in June I was reminded of the model of the Charlotte Trolley he produced. [the Trolleys Charlotte purchased were the same as the New Orleans light railcars--model photos below].

Charlotte's Trolleys were discontinued in 1938, later resurrected for a short time by one Mayor and then discontinued again. It later was used and abused as a roadside market/store. Eventually folks raised $250,000 to restore it cosmetically, electrically and mechanically[installed a motor] whereupon it was again stored ten years. This week the Charlotte Observer newspaper, better known as "the Charlotte Disturber", announced that the Trolley[#85] was to be put to use on Charlotte's soon to be expanded light rail system.

{Charlotte suburban resident SRR Sean probably knows more and can post the details}.

Walt Cameron's Brother lived in the Burlington,N.C. area and once when Walt was here for a visit we had planned to meet for lunch but I was traveling overseas and missed the chance to hookup. Walt was a great guy and model builder and fun to chat with.

Some argue that operating without the overheads a Trolley is "just a bus". As far as I am concerned if it is on rails it is a Trolley.
