Ted,

Listen to what GunRunner says about don't use the speaker period. Clean up all the shavings too!

On any 5v Proto 2 engine I always check the speaker no matter what the engine originally came in for. Too many speakers with the metal shavings from the speaker falling apart. Circuit boards cost way to much not to just change the speaker out.
