 If you flip the engine over. You should some some slider type  switches under the cab. You may need to move the trailing truck from side to side to see them. See if there's one marked Odyssey. ON, OFF. The previous owner may have moved it to off. 

 What road name is it as well as the rd. number on the cab or tender ? That may be a clue as to what you have. I assume by your original post that this is a command engine. You mention running with the TIU and Command base. I'm guessing you have a TMCC base. Just no Cab 1. You mention you are running with a Power Cab ?

Engine #1842. NYC. Do not have CAB1 just thelionel command base connected to my TIU. The only switch I find is on tender snd/off/and/on. It's set for sound on.
