Standard gauge Scale Model Engineering Works MEW train

MEW (Model Engineering Works) in the Tinplate world is known for replacement wheels ...in the scale world an importer of HO brass trains . Dick Wheeler in 1964 tried to combine the two worlds by importing a brass  steam engine in " standard gauge "... Scaled to 7/16" .
The demand for 2 rail,  2 1/8" gauge , DC powered , requiring scale profile track with a minimum of 48" radius found a rather small audience.
Dick Wheeler called his 7/16" line "Mantle piece models" .....most of the 50 or 75 engines made never left the mantle.
