Agree with making modules light! But do not sacrifice structural strength for lightness, especially beneath the track. Unsupported builders foam WILL eventually bow. Then your trains look like they are riding on a ocean. Don't ask me how I know this... eek You can use a plywood/foam sandwich beneath the tracks and minimally supported foam under the scenery. We tried to avoid plaster and plaster castings as much as possible: No strength, cracks easily, and heavy.

Talking with the guys of the Pittsburgh Independent HiRailers is a great plan!
