Reply to "Strasburg meet in Aug - who's going?"

I have not missed this show since its beginning.  When the Eastern O Scalers ran this show in Denver PA and Wind Gap, I was their also.  Wind Gap was a great name for that fire hall location...not much around there but a nice fire hall.   A four hour meet in Strasburg is great as far as I am concerned.  Living only 75 minutes from Strasburg I was very pleased when they moved to this location.  Strasburg has plenty of things to do in the area with the Strasburg Railroad, The TCA Museum and the Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum only ten minutes from the fire hall where the meet is held.  The folks at the fire hall put together some simple food and drink for the attendees and often times they have some wonderful chicken corn soup available.

My wife and another couple usually spend the weekend in the area at the Fall and Spring meets and the wives can take in the outlets and specialty shops while my buddy and I attend the meet.

As I get older seeing other O scale friends has become more important than acquiring more train stuff.  I have enough projects in house to keep me building O scale for many years.  I would suggest if you are coming from a distance to this meet to plan on spending a couple of days in the area taking in the other rail and non rail activities that are available.

Lancaster County PA is a great place to visit.

Joe
