MTH...
Have 2 RF&P GP-40's in 2 rail coming. And just ordered some C40-8's in 2 rail. I'll find out tomorrow if they are going to show up.
Special run MTH freight cars that I am doing...MTH will do them in 2 rail for me. Its a very slow process... , but slowly getting orders in to them. Part of the issue is that there are only certain freight cars available....only the ones where the tooling hasnt been sold to someone else, or is not in negotiation. Right now im just going after the models that are nice scale models (some are, and some arent, imho), and also not models that are basically the same as an Atlas model thats already been made. Im trying to get a list from MTH of whats available. Many of what I consider their best, most detailed MTH cars, are no longer available to use for special runs. I'll let everyone know what's coming up, as soon as i know something is actually going to go into production. The only things that I know for sure right now, are the TRRA and IHB sw-1500's, and the BRW and M&E RS-1's . Unfortunately, there are all 3 rail. I was hoping MTH would do some 2 rail switchers for me, but no luck,.
Atlas....Pink covered hoppers, and Double plug door box cars are here. Troop sleepers, converted troop cars, and Trinity 5161 covered hopper cars will be here in about a week. I dont have many extras on any of these things. Next of the Atlas special runs should be the GATX 8000 gal tank cars, and the 40' international containers
Now Im trying to get Atlas to put the SW8/9's on the front burner, so we can have some switchers in 2 rail again. I'd like to put in for a special run of Atlas SW8's or 9's, but its a lot of money up front, nd I'll need support from the 2 railers. My 1st inclination is to stick with the big roads..PRR, SF, SP, NYC. 2nd thought is to go with the smaller roads that were famous for their SW fleets...like IHB and LV.
Please LMK what u think. Remember if I get 50 ppl asking for 50 different roads, then this project is going nowhere. I need to know what I can sell 50 pcs of, not 5. There are plenty of roads I havent mentioned...and if u think they will sell in 2 rail, LMK. MoPac, RI, GN, MEC, B&M, SOU, ACL. I especially like doing shortlines ot terminal RRs that have a following.
