Quite some time ago, I started making some stacked slab marble for some flat cars. I got as far as making the slabs on cribbing. I decided to make some more, and made "metal banding" using black duck tape cut into thin strips. I measured the distance on all four sides of the load, and on a piece of glass, I cut the strips a little longer so there would be some overlap at the bottom. I cut notches in the top and bottom boards for the banding to fit in using a miter saw. The slab material is from commercial rubber stair tread. I saved the cutoff pieces over the past few years, knowing I would find a use at some point.
