Happy Switcher Saturday everyone.

My contribution this week is a small English switcher I found Googling around...

norwich loco

Here is the info on it:

Horwich 18" gauge locomotive: narrow gauge 0-4-0ST shunter "Wren". Built in 1887, this 3½ ton loco had 1ft 4¼ inch driving wheels and 5in X 6in cylinders, and was used for transporting materials on the 18-in gauge system at Horwich works.

Apparently, this was the location of the Horwich Locomotive Works which more recently was scheduled to be demolished for housing.

During WWI & WWII they manufactured shells, artillery pieces, bombs and tanks and was said to have been a target for German bombers during WWII in the 1940's.
