    Circa. 1965. This close-up shows the air actuated adjustable draft gear allowing the standard gauge Baldwin to switch both standard and narrow gauge cars in the Alamosa yard.

     

    The standard gauge diesel switcher and the narrow gauge 2-8-2 spend a night together in the Alamosa roundhouse. Note the adjustable coupler on the switcher, so that it could handle both narrow gauge and standard gauge cars on the dual gauge track in the yard. Circa 1965.

    Very cool and very unusual. I've been following trains most of my life and had never seen that sliding, adjustable coupler.
