Switcher Saturday 5-14-22

Hi there Switcher Saturday faithful !

Switcher Saturday is a recurring weekly thread dedicated to celebrating the smaller, nimble,  jack of all trades locomotives,  known collectively as Switchers.   From ancient saddle tak steamers working the docks, to first gen diesels husseling the local, to modern multi gen-set machines working class 1 yards, Switcher locomotives come in all shapes and sizes and they are all welcome here.

Switcher Saturday is always open to all scales and gauges.

I have shown you all pictures several times of the Republic Locomotive unit at my work.   Well I finally caught the coal yard getting ready to move the compact little beast, and I caught the whistle on video.  Yes, I said whistle. The locomotive was requested to be equipped with a whistle meant to make "A mournful southern sound." The man who specified the locomotive, being of origin below the Mason Dixon line, wanted a whistle but specifically did not want a "Northern Screamer."  How well that was accomplished I will let you decide.

So please, share your pictures,  videos, vignettes and stories.  Have a great day folks
