Barely- about 1-2 years in elementary school for my two kids (21, 15). Everyone does school work on computers, tablets, etc, now. Spell check fixes all for the most part. Cursive writing is ancient history too.

The real scary part is how many of today's generations write formal papers and correspondence with texting and social media shorthand (LOL, LMAO, etc).
