Tank cars with sound question

Can a Lionel tank car with ps rail sounds be used on an MTH layout where PS-3 is the "operation system" ? Everything I run is with TIU, hand held remote and PS-3 locomotives in constant voltage mode. I think I'd like to have one, but not if I can' get the full sound. Some advice, please.
