Another high profile TCA member and past president was the late train magazine and book publisher, Hal Carstens. Hal was a major presence in the various hobby trade associations and his Railroad Model Craftsman and Toy Trains were well received periodicals in our hobby. Hal was also a prolific collector and two of his best selling publications documented many of the early prewar manufacturers: Toy Trains of Yesteryear and The Trains of Lionel's Standard Gauge Era. His influence in promoting all gauges and manufacturers cannot be overstated.
