Reply to "Tell us a good story!"

When I was a little kid, 4 years old (about 1955), my aunt and uncle lived in Steubenville Ohio in a three story apartment , theirs was on the second floor.  In the back, all three apartments had screened in porches with shared stairs to the back yard. At the end of the back yard was a small stone wall about 3 feet high.  Beyond the wall was the PRR mainline.  During a visit, I heard a train whistle and shot out the back door and ran to the wall.  My dad caught up to me and made sure I stayed at the wall.  The whistle and exhaust kept getting closer.  Finally an enormous Steam locomotive passed with all the noise, steam, and smoke that giant could make.  And the smell! The engineer waved at me and gave a blast of the whistle.  What a sight!
