So my latest long-term project is a model of a local interurban that ran for only 6 months before being destroyed in a fire. Commonly called a "Dracar", it was produced by the Chicago based(?) Drake Railway Automotrice Company, as a gas-electric hybrid.
I was able to acquire a drawn up set of blueprints for the car, and slowly have started making a body shell and extra parts for later resin printing and finishing.
HOWEVER!
I do not want it to be conventional. Ideally I want to cannibalize an existing MTH Protosound 3.0 unit/car and retrofit the base to fit with the Dracar shell, then install a 'close enough' trolley file set.
My current line of thinking was to use a Semi-convertable Brill trolley but the Dracar had a scale length of 11.5" with wheel base centering distance of 6.5". The Brill is 10.5", with a centering of 4.5" (short enough to look funny). RDCs, doodlebugs, and upgraded K-line interurbans clock at 18" roughly (with a wheel base to match).
I really do not want to build my own base so I was hoping to ask what the distance would be between truck centers on a MTH PCC trolley would be? (the total length is comparable to the Dracar).
Apparently the interior was a dark oak panel finish with plush green seats. No information on the outside coloring.
