Reply to "The Green Dorfan"

I did not purchase the green Dorfan that was just released.  However, I have the MTH 10-1214 green Dorfan steamer and the 10-5031 green Dorfan passenger set.

I took the tender in to an automotive paint specialty store to get the paint matched.  He put the tender under his scanner and then went to look it up on his computer.  As he was doing that, I was looking at the tender and thinking out loud, and said that I'd never really noticed how close the color is to John Deere green.  He looked at me funny and back at the computer, and said, "close?  It's identical.  It comes up a perfect match."  So he didn't mix any paint for me, I just used off-the-shelf John Deere green.

I know MTH did some John Deere box cars and such, and apparently somebody figured, close enough.  Original Dorfan green was much darker and not as much yellow; actually closer to Oliver green, if you're gonna get into tractors with it.

So there you have it.  MTH used John Deere green on their Dorfan.  Don't know about the recently-released set, but I would imagine it's the same.
