Lionel makes so many catalog cut 'n paste errors nowadays, it's hard to believe what they say anymore. I would find it hard to believe they'd drop backward-compatible conventional AC alienating the traditional guys.

Maybe the Ryan and Dave Flyer show on Feb 2nd will answer the question. Maybe not.
