No offense intended I hope none taken. I just wonder to myself when I read a post saying "I do not preorder but will pick one up after I see one" or like you said " I will pick one up after the bugs have been worked out"........do they ever find one? I missed the Legacy K4s when they first came out in Legacy back in 2011. It took me three years of looking then I found one on the forum "For Sale/Trade forum". The built to order system on Lionel Legacy Scale engines is changing how you buy product you want. Some engines you may never see on a Hobby Store shelf.

As far as waiting for the bugs are worked out Lionel does have a top notch repair department so if you are one of the unfortunate few whose engine don't work as they should when purchased Lionel service will turn repairs around pretty quickly.
