RickO,

We are just going to have to agree to disagree on the subject of pre-ordering. I feel it is the best way to guarantee you get what you want and at a good price. I have pre-ordered several Legacy engines and have not yet been disappointed.

Luckily you didn't "pre-order" one of the Lionel Legacy UP FEF-3 4-8-4 models with the Sellers Exhaust Steam Injector (#838), as specifically referenced in the catalog. The model delivered was simply #844 with road number 838 painted on the sides of the cab, i.e. NO Sellers Exhaust Steam Injector!!!!

So much for "you get what you want for a good price"!

We can agree that everything should work right out of the box, all the time. I often thought if I owned a manufacturing company I would name it The Freaking Company, just so it would always be on the lips of the consumer such as "my Freaking car does not run" or " my Freaking watch has stopped" or " my Freaking toaster burnt my toast". However we have to live in the real world so it is nice to have a company that has a great repair service such as Lionel.

I think the complaints about the Moguls are not that bad to write them off. I think Lionel will fix the ones that are jerky quickly as even Dave from Lionel responded on that thread that they would take care of it. Yeah you will have to pay for shipping but that is part of the hobby now wether we like it or not.
