Tip for aligning track in "what-if" scenarios

I don't know about you, but I often find myself test-fitting track to find its exact position on the layout.  Space is always tight and fractions of an inch, particularly on curves, matter.  Knowing the exact position of a large curve can help you decide on the diameter of the curve or if a straight piece must be inserted somewhere to have it come out right.

With GarGraves or Ross track, I don't want to use pins to put the sections together because I'll have to pull them apart to insert GarGraves pigtails for feeder pairs.  That widens the holes for track that I wish (eventually) to permanently install.  I hit upon a way to test fit these sections without using pins.  It involves these low-pressure clamps called Redi-Shade.  They have dozens of other uses (like structure building), too.

I found these clips on Ebay.

Hope this helps someone out.
