David, I suggest you go to external fuses and/or breakers. Fuse holders are cheap enough at Radio Shack. I also suggest fuses/breakers not to exceed 10-amps. In the long run, breakers are cheaper.

I agree that replacing internal fuses is not fun, as well as creating an opportunity to strip/wear out the plastic threads.
