All interested parties;
This is my last post on this issue of the difficulty finding the drivers for the Rev. L TIU via the automatic driver install using Windows update service. (I'm sure there are a few out there who are saying "finally").
Yesterday I plugged the TIU into my wife's PC and it automatically found the drivers!
Her laptop is the same as mine (i.e. it's an HP running Win 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit).
It's actually a slight less powerful machine than mine but otherwise pretty much the same.
I still can not get mine to behave properly even after I "cleaned up the machine" -- I did some registry maintenance as well as general hard drive cleanup.
I can install the drivers manually as I discovered some time back but at this point I'm going to admit defeat and move on.
There is still one more thing I could do but it's rather drastic and I don't want the headaches. I could restore the OS with the factory image on the Recovery partition of the C drive, but I'm gonna quit.
My laptop is corrupted somewhere and I'm not willing to put in the effort to discover where.
Thanks to all for your contributions.
