TIU / TMCC Cable Options - Should I use the 50-1018 or 50-1032 serial adapter cable?

Does anyone know the difference between an MTH #50-1018 TIU/TMCC cable, and an MTH #50-1032 TIU/TMCC-Legacy cable?

If DCS cannot access any Legacy specific engine functions, why would I get the 50-1032?

Would the 50-1018 not work with a CAB-1L or CAB-2?
