Once again, appreciate your input. As my space is rather confined, I think the easiest thing for me at this point is to just spread out some track on the floor & see what's possible. I assume the twice around & dogbone layouts I posted were likely to be used with access to both sides (not against the wall). Will certainly keep your suggestions in mind as I explore the possibilities.
