Train only moves in reverse

I opened the power car to put a bulb in and accidentally hit the on/off switch on the bottom. I switched it back but when I put the car on the tracks it starts moving in reverse as soon as I raise the throttle. Before this it would power up when I raised the throttle but would only move if I turned the throttle off and then back on or if I hit the direction button. It also would move in both directions as far as forward neutral reverse with the direction button.
