If you can avoid clicking on all of the ads it shows 2 shops in Plymouth which is not far from Ann Arbor.  I remember going to one in Plymouth when visiting my brother-in-law in nearby Canton Township.

 Whoa, must really be out of date... Only one store left on the West Side. Plymouth

trains. Very small store. But after there is couple of great places to eat near by.

( one across the street )

(Jim 1939) has given the best 2 shops in the area, But from Ann Arbor about

1.5 hours each way.

If you have a day to kill Mike, Plymouth trains and Greenfield Village would

be the best bet... Unless you are buying the beer the a bunch of O gauge

guy's I know would show up and talk trains.....

 

 

There is also a smaller less known shop on Woodward in Ferndale called "Rainy Day Hobby" that has some older Lionel stuff and other scales as well.  Nice store and owner, pricing isn't too bad.
