From the mid-70’s into the 80’s, I lived on East 7th St. off Avenue M. While going to college or work in Manhattan, I had to catch the subway at Ave. M and East 15th St. TrainWorld was right next to the station exit (I had no idea that was their first location). Spent many hours browsing in there - shelves up to the ceiling displaying the latest Lionel trains. Since I was young and couldn’t afford a lot of trains, I loved that TrainWorld would sell set breakups (first store I remember doing that) - allowed me to get individual cars from the FARR Series, the Fallen Flags Series and others.
