Reply to "Transformer damage from whistle diode???"

It seems like no one has actually observed any real damage or malfunction from the diodes in the transformer which was my original concern.? I see the arcing but it seems like it does not happen all the time when look activate the whistle with the cover off. How long has this mod been done 20 plus years?
