"New York Central's Later Power" by Alvin Staufer has pics of F-3A 1611, 1616 and 1617 in this paint scheme. This was the as-delivered paint scheme in June, 1947. F-3B 2409 in the same pic as F-3A 1611 is all black. All units had high fans.
