Paint job completed!
I decided to use the postwar floor, a) to keep the MPC floor with the Pennsy shell and b) take advantage of the postwar floor's metal battery box's extra weight and bakeability for the enamel...
Dunno where the sockets that came with the PW floor came from, but I added wiring to them.
Floor and trucks torn down and masked for painting...
While the primer was baking, I cut down a plastic drinking cup for the speaker resonator.
Since I had the power truck out, fresh traction tires replaced the 30+ year old ones.
Primered!
We shall skip the painting and reassembly, as I was too busy getting fiddly bits right to take happy snaps.
After I finished painting, I realized I'd intended to use darker blue on the trucks and underbody. Oh, well. Turned out nice anyway, sorta reminiscent of the British Deltic locos...
Test run on the point of a gi-raffe train!
And on the point of my Blue Comet consist, with Norma Bates Kitteh supervising:
Norma gives Fortescue the stinkeye...
Came out pretty good, if I do say so myself!
