Universal Remote Review

I stopped by Nicholas Smith trains and picked up the Lion Chief Universal Remote.  I did this because I read on the Lionel page that the new version 1.1 firmware would run all LionChief engines including my older Polar Express and Broadway Limited. So when I got home, I opened the package, installed that batteries and downloaded the updater app. I followed the on screen directions and the app updated my new remote in just a few minutes. I then took it to my Christmas layout and followed the programming instructions in the manual.  After two tries for the Polar Express on button 1 and two tries for the  Broadway Limited, I succeeded in pairing the older engines to the remote.

Generally, it was nice to run the two with one remote. I did notice that there was a slight delay between a button push and the response. The throttle was very slightly delayed in comparison to the original remotes. All in all I am happy with the purchase and I am glad that the update and pairing went as instructed with little trouble. Very nice job Lionel. B595F801-500E-47EC-B2DC-2C83A600B118
