Article says it may only be for UP's employees and family.  Joe public may not be able to see.  Bummer if that happens because Ogden is on the list and it's a 25 min drive.

Correct, i.e for employees only when on "display". The unit was in Proviso Yard, a day or two ago, and was easily visible from the employee's parking lot, however wouldn't you know it but a car of "holier than thou" rail fans showed up, and promptly tried walk right up to the unit. The UP Special agents finally had a snoot full of their actions, and promptly forced EVERYBODY that was not an employee off the property! Proving that it takes only a few to ruin it for everybody.

If they didn't want the hassle of the public coming they shouldn't have released any PR on it.

Sure!

You know the first post of this thread will only bring uninvited guests to the locations. Her quote about not allowing the public in out of respect for his family is a bunch of hooey as there are probably thousands across the country who wish they could have gone to Washington and paid their respects. (Maybe just say we don't want the public and the resulting logistical nightmare!)

Curious, was it really just employees (and their families?) or did they allow "connected" guests as well? So how did the railfans and foamers get into the UP Employees parking lot anyway?

They simply drove right in. It is an open parking lot without any security at the entrance gate. Those non-employees that were already there, were respecting the "rules" about NOT walking right up to the side of the unit.
