As I suspected it won't be at the Golden Spike National Historic Site - Promontory, Utah unless UP repurchases some right of way and reinstalls some track. Not likely.

There's a portion of what I assume to be the original right of way, which parallels state road 13 up to the Corrine Cutoff near Mule Ranch Road. That's as far West as it goes and you can see the grade paralleling the road for a long ways beyond that. I'm not 100% sure but I'd think that was the original roadbed due to where its pointing. But the tracks looked like they hadn't been used in quite a while the one time I was out there in 2012. No idea when a train was last out there. Beats me if you could even get 4014 up there (the tracks probably aren't in good enough shape for that) but clearly someone owns the right of way and if UP was seriously motivated they could get whatever they wanted that far if a MOW crew went in and did a lot of track work.

If any locals care to chime in, are my assumptions right about that stretch of track? I didn't follow it any further than where it ducked under 15/84...
