FWIW, my Vision Line Genset has a hum when idle. Not as loud as your example, but it's there. This seemed to be an issue with some of the early Legacy models. Since all the electronic parts for these models were removed by Lionel and declared as Obsolete, sending it back was the right move, fixing it could have been problematic!
